XP System

All art and literature submitted to the group counts for points within the XP System. The XP System is a way to reward activity by granting prizes for ranking your horse up! It is counted individually per horse and added manually by staff when each submission is accepted.

To view your Loshenka's current level, go to their profile and click "XP Info" in the sidebar. If they are registered and ready to rank up, you'll see a button to level them up and automatically receive all associated rewards. Horses must be registered in order to officially level up, but can earn XP itself at any point as long as they're designed. Rewards are distributed automatically and can be found in your inventory upon leveling up.

POINT VALUES
In the tabs below, you'll find each category and its requirements, along with a few examples.
Keep in mind all submissions must meet the basic Art/Lit Guidelines in order to be accepted and counted for XP.

ARTWORK POINTS

Select one of the tabs above for info and examples!

HEADSHOT - 3 xp

  • At minimum, the head and at least half of the neck must be shown.

  • "Busts" (head/neck/shoulders/chest) also count in this category.

PARTIAL BODY - 6 xp

  • At minimum, must show significantly more than the bust (head/shoulders/chest). Lower than chest and/or further back than withers.

  • Note that if there is only a small peek of the top of legs, start of back, etc, it should still be a headshot!

Simple Fullbody - 6 xp

  • Simplified from your usual style; i.e. stick legs, very tiny, undetailed limbs, minimal-detail chibi, etc.

  • Does not apply to all chibi/stylized art, only if elements are significantly simplified from your norm.

  • Must still be "gallery quality" - does not allow for XP farming by submitting lots of rushed ones!

  • Whole body should be drawn / clearly present in the image, without cropping any elements out of the frame.

  • Other horses and BG elements may obscure parts of the body, as long as the majority is still clearly visible. Otherwise, list as Partial.

Fullbody - 9 xp

  • Applies for your usual style, without further simplification or removal of elements.

  • May also apply for different/experimental styles that still take the same amount of time/effort.

  • Whole body should be drawn / clearly present in the image, without cropping any elements out of the frame.

  • Other horses and BG elements may obscure parts of the body, as long as the majority is still clearly visible.

  • If overly obscured, but the entire body was drawn behind/under those elements, feel free to upload the unobscured version to sta.sh and link it in your breakdown, and we'll be happy to count it for full points (must match render level of the rest of the piece).

SHADING - 2 xp

  • Shading in each of these sections of the body if present: head, neck, body/barrel, legs, mane, tail.

  • Shading must be clearly visible and recognizable as shading. Highlights optional.

  • Must have more than just rim lighting or line borders in order to count.

BACKGROUND - 3 xp

  • Should have at least 3 notable "fields"/layers of foreground and background.

  • Must have significant elements and adequate detail, not just solid colored grass/sky/etc.

  • Must create a scene; patterns/textures/shapes alone do not count.

  • NOTE: For multiple horses on one BG, up to three may receive BG points. If the same horse is depicted on the same BG multiple times, it will only receive BG points once.

COMPLEX BACKGROUND - 5 xp

  • Creates a full scene with additional detail in the foreground and background layers.

  • Must have a significant number of extra elements, i.e. shading, grass patches, detailed trees, flowers, birds, etc.

  • Should clearly appear to be fully rendered/detailed rather than just having simple/mostly-solid layers.

  • NOTE: For multiple horses on one BG, up to three may receive BG points. If the same horse is depicted on the same BG multiple times, it will only receive BG points once.

PARTIAL RIDER/HANDLER - 2 xp

  • Must show at least to the waist.

  • Requires defined clothing and features; no stick figures/silhouettes.

  • One rider/handler counts for only one horse, and must be interacting directly in some way.

FULLBODY RIDER/HANDLER - 4 xp

  • Must be reasonably fullbody for the pose, not overly obscured or cropped out.

  • Requires defined clothing and features; no stick figures/silhouettes.

  • One rider/handler counts for only one horse, and must be interacting directly in some way.

Horse Animation (Minor) - 3 xp per distinct area of movement

Horse Animation (MAJOR) - BASE XP AND SHADING PER KEYFRAME

RIDER/HANDLER Animation (Minor) - 1 xp per distinct area of movement

  • "Puppet" style - person is stationary/lineart stays the same except for isolated areas of effect.

  • Areas of movement must be significant (entire limb, whole head, etc - not just blink / smile).

  • Points are counted for each distinct area (so +1 for moving the head, +1 for moving leg, etc).

  • Each area of movement must have at least 3 unique frames to be counted.

RIDER/HANDLER Animation (MAJOR) - BASE XP PER KEYFRAME

  • For each keyframe, count normal rider/handler base points (2/4).

  • ** Please put all counted keyframes in sta.sh and add link in description for staff to check! **

  • Frame-by-frame style; lineart must be fully redrawn for each frame, not just area of movement.

  • Each frame counted for xp must be visually distinct in pose (keyframes), not minor in-between frames.

  • Must have at least 4 unique frames with clear motion (walking, running, riding horse with Major animation, etc).

BG Animation (Minor) - 2 xp per distinct area of movement

  • "Puppet" style - BG is stationary/stays the same except for isolated areas of effect.

  • Areas of movement must be significant (patch of grass, bunch of leaves, not just one petal or the like).

  • Each area of movement must have at least 3 unique frames. Cannot be generated effects, must be created by you.

  • ex: https://www.deviantart.com/swordsandspectacles/art/Snort-915665739 (2 areas, +4 xp - rain and leaves)

BG Animation (MAJOR) - 15 xp flat bonus

COLLABORATION - 2 XP

  • All participants must have contributed significantly to the progress of the piece, rather than just drawing their own character(s) and putting them on one canvas.

  • Must depict at least one horse per collaborator, headshot minimum.

  • Please add each participant and their role in the Collaborators box when submitting.

  • Not applicable to Literature; this falls under the Roleplay bonus!

LITERATURE POINTS

Select one of the tabs above for info and examples!

BASE POINTS - 1 xp per 100 words (rounded)

  • To qualify for literature XP, the Loshenka in question must be a significant part of the story in these ways:

    • Appearance/Description: Must be adequately described, physically or otherwise. Cannot just be a passing mention in the background.

    • Actions/Behavior: Must play some role in the story's plot via actions or behavior, whether working on a task, behaving a certain way, etc.

    • Interactions: Must interact with the environment and/or with other characters (dialogue, exploration, others interacting, etc).

  • Another helpful tip is to consider the 5Ws (Who, What, When, Where, Why) and ensure the character is involved in each of those elements. This should automatically get you to hit the three points above.

RIDER/HANDLER - 1 XP per 500 words (not rounded)

  • Must hit the same 3 targets as the base points, but for the handler/rider.

  • One rider/handler counts for only one horse, and must be interacting directly in some way.

ROLEPLAY - 2 XP PER 500 WORDS (NOT ROUNDED)

  • This bonus is based on the total word count between all writers, HOWEVER...

    • Because RPs generally have each writer write their own characters, the base & rider/handler xp should be counted for the word count per writer, not total.
