She is alone. She is alone. Twist had been right there, she only looked away for a few moments when the human had brought her a biscuit of lucerne, because Twist is always right there at the rails opposite her when she looks up and where is Twist? Where is he? Yara whinnies, frantic, and kicks up loose sand as she abandons her meal and explodes into a trot, nose thrown over the railing. Where is he? Patrolling up and down the length of the yard ra...

Reilly's kind of awful with faces, especially unfamiliar faces. But they'd recognise that broad, blanket appaloosa rump anywhere. "Ceara?" they venture. Definitely Ceara. Who the hell manages to smile that candidly for pictures on social m...

Raya swiped through her phone as she lay in the shade of a pine tree, needles prickling her legs. She had become curious to find out more about this horse and what made her so anti-trailer.    A notification popped up on her phone. It was the rescue, sending her an email with the subject, “rainy day trailer accident: two horses injured”.   Her heart skipped a beat. This had to be what she was looking for. She swiftly opened the link to a digital newspaper that covered ...

The sudden change had been startling, the open hills she’d grown on disappearing in favor of this strange place and its stranger inhabitants. Humans, her mother had called them when the herd spotted them at a distance. Two legged things with an odd interest in them. The dark mare had never thought much of them, even when she’d seen some riding other Loshenka and other types of horses. She had grown from filly to mare within her herd, rushing across the hills they own...

Whoever was in charge of writing all of the horse girl Hallmark movies that Valerie watched as a kid had clearly never interacted with a horse before. They were always tales of a girl and a horse that had been deemed as a ‘lost cause’ – with little hope of redemption or success – and their remarkable friendship. Like the main character was infallible and could do no wrong, an infallible pillar of moral character and horse whispering. See, that was all well and good for making an enter...
