Literature
Katrina picks up the file for what feels like the hundredth time. When the rescue had first reached out to her she’d been shocked. That shock quickly turned to sorrow when they offered her the records on the chestnut mare. The folder included a short paragraph on the mare’s life prior to the rescue and included a few pictures. It hurt Katrina to imagine just what that horse had been through to be in the current position she was.   ...
Literature
The crunch of dirt beneath her hindpaws, the sound of birds chirping, the light melody of wind moving through the grass. It was the very thing the black-furred feline lived for. And she was determined to show the mare currently on her ranch the same things. The same pleasures in life.   Pushing the barn door open, she heads to the only stall currently holding an occupant. Katrina grabs the rope halter with the...

Katrina smiles, leaning against the fence surrounding the pasture. Her arms were braced against one of the lower bars and her chin is just barely over the top of the fencing. The mare she took in so many months ago was better than she could have ever imagined. The handler was glad she decided not to have the chestnut plum re-shoed when her hooves were trimmed so long ago. Ever since the shoes were removed, the loshenka hadn’t developed a single abscess. All th...

Literature
It had been nearly a week since the farrier had been out to the ranch to inspect her new charge. Since then, Katrina has been keeping a close watch on the mare to make sure no further abscess were forming. So far, it was going well and the handler couldn’t help but feel a little hopeful that maybe, just maybe, they were on their road to recovery and eventually, the mare would no longer be plagued by these issues. Which also meant she could start working on red...
Literature
Katrina was nervous to push the mare past what she felt her limits were. Foxy could walk for as long as she asked her to. The chestnut plum would even gallop if she spurred her on. Galloping was easier on the joints than simpler actions like trotting which welcomed more impact and any time the mare tried to do it, she would whinny and drop down to a walk or speed up to a gallop. Later, her joints would be slightly inflamed and the handler would give her a small ...
