Bunny roams free

"Alright. This'll do it."

Azura held the sturdy collar in her hands. It was worn from all the adventures its bearer Bunny had taken it on, yet still holding firm. That was quality workmanship for you. Azura's older brother had crafted it not too long after Bunny had gotten to the ranch. The silver bell rang as clear and pleasant as ever and Azura had recently done upkeep on its metal patts. Now she had added its latest, most crucial update; a GPS tracker.

The collars initial purpose had been to make finding the gray tobiano a little easier when she escaped, but by now everyone on the ranch had come to the conclusion that keeping Bunny locked in a pasture was just as nigh impossible as it was senseless.

Bunny was happiest when roaming freely and it was high time that Azura had finally, truly admitted to that to herself. Bunny had taught her owner many things and reminded her of even more. Among them insights about control and the apparent need for it.

Azura had learned that the best way to keep her companion safe and happy was to latch this GPS tracker onto the mare and set her free. If Bunny was stuck somewhere or in danger, the tracker was set to detect her heart rate and send out an alert. It was subject to improvement, sure. A camera was added to get visuals on arising situations too.

Luckily there weren't any dangerous creatures in the area, minus the feral ones held on the ranch. But their fencing only had proven to be Bunny safe.

The few neighbors had been asked if they were on board as well, seeing that Bunny’s knack for breaking into buildings didn't stop at barns or sheds. They'd agreed and happily taken the offer of having Bunny safe locks installed, paid for by Azura. It helped that Bunny was both friendly and adorable.

It was all worth it.

And she wouldn't be alone either. Elfie, a well natured Neravontii mare and one of Bunny’s very first friends, had been added to the herd. She was able to keep up with Bunny and could and would look out for her.

Azura took a deep breath. She had to trust Bunny on this. Imagining how happy Bunny would be helped a lot. It would be just what the mare needed, the best that could be done for her. And Azura knew that Bunny would always return to her. No matter how many times the mare had escaped, she always came back home. Back to her place, her herd and her person.”
