Jack was born to a feral herd of horses and lived wild for the first few years of his life. However, around age four he was rounded up by humans to be sold. This event left not only lasting trauma, but he was the worst pick to try and domesticate. Jack wanted to remain wild and never got used to life in captivity. He grew agressive in an attempt to ward off human advances. The small spaces and pens he was confined in led to him feeling constantly cornered and trapped. He tried to escape again and again and grew more careless and irate in doing so, eventually risking grave injury just for a single shot at freedom. This is where he sustained the injury and subsequent scar on his neck. He was passed around from owner to owner, each trying their own methods of taming him, some kind, some not, but whatever they did never let to him growing more docile, not once.

The best course of action would have been to find him sanctuary. Instead, he wa finally purchased by cattle farmers for cheap who didnt much care about the horses innee life. They figured theyd break him in like any other, but Jackie made that impossible. He resisted harder than ever before until he finally managed to actually escape. Unfortunatley for him, the area was not fitted for him to live in. Cattle had trampled the ground barren and dry. What spare trees were there had been gnawed off, leaving only the out of reach tops green and lush. Jackie took to eating the cattles feed. This combined with his escape and general defiance of what the ranchers wanted made him a very unwelcome guest. They tried incresingly more extreme methods to catch him.

Hostility was in the air and Jackie was oblivious to the fact that the ranchers planned to try a final time to round him up, no longer caring if he injured himself or not. A quite shady horse trader was set to come get Jackie if the ranchers couldnt.
