[Bonus Prompt #2] Vegetable Heist
Bonus Prompt 2
June 12th - Day 12
After an unsuccessful day of trying to get Pirate to approach me on his own, I decided to try a smarter approach. Bribery. This was where I discovered one of Pirate’s main motivators; food. Any kind of treat seems to work in getting him to not only approach, but to interact with me as well. I just wish he’d stop trying to drag away from me whenever I’m not the one holding the treat.
Unfortunately, like all plans involving this little menace, my new tool was soon used against me. Pirate took to carrots in particular, more than any other treat I offered, clearly he has a favourite. He was such a fan of the carrots, that he managed to get ahold of the bag they were in, and proceeded to move with more energy than I even knew he had to get his prize away from where I could grab it.
Having successfully tricked and robbed me, he proceeded to munch down on as many of the carrots as he could manage. I couldn’t even be mad at him, as it was one of the few signs that a real horse still lived in the shell I’d rescued. I am, however, very glad that I remembered my polaroid camera, as I managed to snap one of the funniest photos I’ve ever seen.
I believe I can call this discovery a good thing, despite the not insignificant amount of carrot thievery that occurred, as it allowed me to better understand Pirate, and it definitely helped me with the planning of our future sessions together. I really think this is the first glance at the real horse Pirate is underneath his scars and issues, and I’m hopeful that I can chip away at him until his true personality shines through as strongly as I know it can.
