Phase 3: back to the future
Hey all! Laiel here with an update on Mrs. Sangria, my loshenka makeover made, it's been what.. 5 years now? Since I first picked her up from the sanctuary.
she was a problem child for sure, overfed and chunky, lazy, and she had a habit of developing a limp everytime she saw a saddle. Nowadays she's much better.
For starters she's no longer my horse. My plan was to keep her, but my daughter Hazel and Mrs.Sangria herself have CLEARLY decided they are a team (I don't think I'm ever getting sangria back lol). I do have to admit they are a fantastic team, I've never seen sangria so eager to work but the second she sees Hazel heading towards the gate with a halter she SPRINTS to be the first one there, funnily enough if I approach the gate with a halter Sangria will still occasionally develop a sudden limp. maybe it's because I don't come bearing treats.
admittedly Sangria is a little plumper then I'd like, I've been trying to restrict the amount of treats Hazels been feeding her, but unfortunately Hazel has her father wrapped around her finger and when I'm not around he has a tough time saying no to Hazel, so Sangria is spoiled rotten with treats, and is getting a little chunky.
overall though sangria seems much happier, she'll joyfully follow Hazel around the pasture for hours at a time and there isn't a more bombproof horse in our barn for my little girl to take out on the trails.
Sangria and Hazel even attended their first parade together in my hometown in Canada last week! I've attached a photo! She really is a blessing, and sometimes all a horse truly needs is a little girl to love them.

I hope I'm doing everything the right way, I'm not counting Laiel as a rider as the horse she's on isn't a loshenka!
