Phase 3 - The outcome we fought for
The outcome we fought for
We worked together for many weeks at that point and your progress shot up after the farrier shortened your hoofes another time. The placement was nearly normal and you were a hundred percent yourself by now. We left behind all the fear and pain- all thats left is your sweet personality.
The pain medication wasn't needed for a while anymore and misses scheafer was quite proud of your physical form, so the tape and braces weren't necessary anymore either. She recommended aquatic therapy for muscle build, because it would be easier on your joints. She still came once in a while to check on you, but for now the sessions were spread much futher apart!
Not only your hoofes looked so much better, but also your coat changed completely. It went from dull and covered in broken skin patches, to silky shiny and very healty. You've been looking so beautiful since then and I'm still suprised how well your back healed.
As I am writing down this story of yours right now, its been exactly four months since you stepped out of that trailer for the very first time.
I remember so clearly the look in your eyes- the world betrayed you and your shattered little heart wasn't ready to forget. I'm so incredibly grateful that you let me in and gave humans another chance. At this point you're very attached to me and other people/horses ain't that interesting yet, but socializing you will be our next step.
Seeing you run and jump around so happy on the paddock makes me feel so emotional. The change is so drastic and I'm so glad that, despite the struggles, we were able to get through it together. You're my special little boy and I've absolutely lost my heart
to you. I've never felt a connection like this to another horse- its a type of partnership that comes from going through hell with someone you love.
Im so incredibly proud of you and I don't regret taking in a rescue horse whatsoever. This has been an experience and who knows- maybe I'll do it again next year. We'll see. :)
Event: Loshenka Makeover 2025
Phase Number: 3
HorseID#: 11073
Issues: Severe Rain Rot, Overgrown Hooves
Description: This horse was kept in a damp environment and neglected for months on end. When finally removed from their previous home by animal control, the rescue found that the horse had severe rain rot and that its hooves were very overgrown. The horse has learned to compensate with an odd, disjointed movement, and it will take some time and physical therapy to help this horse regain its normal movement and coat.
