Phase 1: Meeting Him
He was a small thing, gangly and all leg. Speaking of legs, he was never really quite sure where to position them, constantly all over the place like a newborn foal. He was actually approaching 7 months of age, so the behaviour was rather funny to observe. He had a lot of personality and character, but I could tell it was buried under a sad, bundle of nerves. He was never mistreated intentionally - he had good owners with good spirits, just not the right knowledge for such a young baby. They pushed him too far with the halter training thinking he was just ‘being a naughty foal’ when in reality they were building a fear.
We’ll get through this boy, I know we will. I see the spark in your eyes and your curiosity; you have a lot of life and potential left in you, and I’m here to bring it back.
Event: 2025 Loshenka Makeover
Phase Number: 1
Horse ID#: 6484
- Issues: Severe Head Shyness, History of Abuse
- Description: Found abandoned and clearly neglected, this horse flinches at any attempt to touch their head or ears. The vet suspects past abuse, as the horse displays a high level of anxiety when approached too quickly or if hands come near their face. The rescue has worked on desensitization with some success, but has too many horses on their hands to give them the time they need.
