[Prompt 18] Get Out Of My House!!
This was an adventure alright. The soft wood floor creaked as it held Cass’ weight. Each hoofstep seemed to be her last, as the creaking continued.
The poor mare had only wanted some treats, but now, in the house owned by her owners, she feared getting caught. Any normal horse would have cut their losses by now and gotten the hell out of here, but Cass couldn’t. A very annoying Nour was waiting outside the house, and if Cass didn’t bring her a fair amount of treats, then, well Cass didn’t even want to think about that.
Cass tried to move a little faster through the house. The goal was the kitchen where all the humans kept all the delicious snacks.
The house was dark, which didn’t bother Cass much, until the lights flashed on. Cass felt like a deer in headlights as she watched two very grumpy people sigh and start bickering.
“You let her in!” Margaret said, pointing her index finger into Kalum’s chest.
“I did not, I locked the doors.” He huffed, removing Marget’s delicate finger from his chest.
“You did not.” Margaret huffed, turning so her back faced Kalum. “Come on Cass.” She said in a sweet voice, her eyes though told a different story. She wanted Cass out of here, which Cass couldn’t exactly blame her for. “A house is no place for a horse Cass, come on, let’s go.” She said softly as she got closer to Cass. The only problem was Cass still wanted treats, and Cass would do anything for treats.
Cass took off, her hooves smashing into the wood floor and in turn, tearing it up.
“Cascorrada! Get back here!” Kalum screamed, chasing after her. He had used her full name. She would definitely be in some trouble once this was all over.
Cass took a sharp left, now facing a staircase. Cass had never dealt with stairs before, but it couldn’t be that hard could it? With a deep breath she ran up the stairs, tripping at least ten times. The lights dimmed as Cass went further, until she was eventually in darkness. Surprisingly though, that gave her an advantage. She heard ruckus behind her, most likely Kalum trying (and failing) to run in the dark.
“Stop right there!” Margaret cried, her voice sounding like a war cry, coming out from a room. Cass came to a sliding stop in front of her. Marget’s wary eyes looked Cass up and down, before turning them to her husband panting behind Cass.
“She’s fast Marg.” Kalum panted with his hands on his knees. A few cuts and scrapes lined Kalum’s body. His Christmas sweater was torn at the hem, and the black pants he was wearing, that were actually Margaret’s, were scratched up by the knees.
“Let’s get her back.” Margaret growled, her eyes lingering on Cass for a few moments too long.
Margaret and Kalum both helped Cass get down the stairs, Cass was rather hard to get down the stairs. Not only due to the fact that she stood at sixteen point three hands, but also due to the fact that she was a horse, not a miniature pony.
“Out you go.” Margaret said, tapping Cass’ rump with her hand, and handing the leadrope to Kalum. “You take her.” She said, shivering from the cold winds.
“Me? Why can’t you take her?” Kalum asked. Margaret gave him a stern look, and upon realizing the look wouldn’t do it, finally said something.
“Because I’m not the one who let her into the house.” Margaret growled, forcing the leadrope into Kalum’s hands. “I’ll see you in bed.” She sighed, her voice hoarse, closing the door behind her, leaving Cass and Kalum out in the cold.
Kalum mumbled profanities as he led Cass to the barn, and then her stall. “Good night girl.” He sighed before closing her stall door and walking back to the house.
