Makeover Phase 1 | Fence Flying

Ophelia wasn't sure just what she was in store for when she was chosen  to be the representative for the barn in the pick up for this year's adoption. The pale woman smoothed back her purple hair that had been tied back into a high ponytail. She wasn't sure WHY she specifically had been chosen to do this as she had only come here to handle the library and bookwork for the place, not the horses.  She looked around after stepping out into the sunlight, a manilla folder in hand that had a few pieces of paper in it, the history of the horse she was about to meet. Several of the forms in that folder were accident logs from the horse spooking and bolting to the safety of the barn.

Ophelia sighed as she thumbed through the pages, taking in most of what she could learn about this horse before getting it loaded and on the way back as safely as possible. She wondered just what kind of brute the horse would be when she looked up, her dark eyes landing on a mostly white horse with a dark colored tail and feet that was frantically pacing a fenceand squealing at any one and any horse that came near it.  She felt bad for that one, she wondered just why it was so scared of everything. "Ah I see you've found your mare," came a voice from behind her. Phelia turned with a look of confusion. "My mare?" She said incredulously at the volunteer who had taken her by the elbow and was leading her towards the pen that held the pacing mare.

"Surely there is some mistake, that one is terrified!" The volunteer chuckled at her and gave her arm a pat. "No mistake, most of the Loshenka here have some kind of thing that requires a little TLC to soothe." 

Again, Ophelia looked at the mare who was eyeing her with wide, fear filled eyes. The white mare with a dark tail blew a loud snort at them, as if hoping it would scare them away. What had she seen? What had she been through? The mare stared at her for a few moments before continuing her pacing of the fence line.  "so...how do I...WE...fix her?" Ophelia asked the volunteer, her eyes still locked on the mare. They chuckled at her and gave her shoulder a pat. "Well, that's really for you to figure out what she needs... to bond with her and help her heal,"  She watched another volunteer worker go out and slide a red halter on the mare and begin to lead her further into the pen with some hesitation on the mare's part.

Heal? She had barely interacted with any horse, let alone humans besides the one 'trust building' ride she was forced to go on with the rest of the people at the barn and even then she didn't particularly enjoy that at all.  Lost in thought she had taken her eyes off the mare and let out a yelp as she was suddenly dragged away from the place she was standing "LOOK OUT!" The volunteer shouted as te mare landed right where she just was before high tailing it back to the open barn doors where other staff was waiting to catch her. 

Ophelia's heart was hammering in her chest from the adreneline that was pumping through her from almost being landed on by the mare and looked between the far away horse and the volunteer.  "I, uh.. suppose I will have to deal with that too?"  she said, clutching the folder to her chest. They nodded and tipped their hat at her "Good luck, we know you'll do your best," they said before running off the help catch and load that mare for her. Just what had John and Portia signed her up for? Why had Andi approved it? Why her?
