Phase 1: First Sight

On a cold summer evening, rain poured down, clouds rolled in over blue sky ranch. Allison had plans to go meet a loshie who was rescued from her home, she was neglected due to her having hoof infections often, the owners couldn’t afford for her to go to the farrier and vet whenever she got the infection, so they thought it was ok to leave her in pain in a pasture with little water and food. Allison drove up this sketchy driveway, trees on each side of the driveway, so tall they towered over the truck and trailer, rotted fence post and barbed wire along the left side. As she drove deeper into the property Allison saw a sign that was all busted up, barely readable “vast acres retreat”. She approached a metal gate, all rusted but looked to be a once elegant gate. The gate was opened by Alex, the man who was incharge of this loshenkas rehoming. Allison drove in to see log cabins all torn to pieces, no sign of human life in at least a few weeks, doors flung open in the wind. On the right of Allison was a pasture with loshie in it, she could tell that this horse was in pain, the look of pain on her face, her body language, everything, this horse needed help as soon as possible! Alison instantly slowly walked up to the horse, stuck out her hand, the loshie walked over and was extremely friendly, she rubbed her head against Alison. Alison noticed as the loshie walked she had a limp, her left from hoof was injured. Alison grabbed the halter and put it onto the loshie, she then lead her into the trailer. “Rosebud. That’ll be your name.” Alison said while petting the horses nose. Rosebud let out a loud neigh in happiness. Alison took Rosebud home and put her in a stall. “The vet will be here momentarily to do a checkup on you girl, it’ll be ok I promise.” Alison explained to Rosebud.
